RB Pierre Thomas has been ruled out for the Wild Card game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Thomas did not practice all week because of a back injury suffered in the week 17 game against Tampa Bay.
Thomas is the Saints’ leading rusher and as for this year, their most versatile RB. Thomas rushed for 549 yards and had 77 receptions, a career high, 513 receiving yards and 5 total touchdowns.
With Thomas out, it seems like it’s time for former first round pick and Heisman Trophy winner Mark Ingram to finally step up and show he’s a force in NFL. Albeit Darren Sproles may get more time, the hard inside grunt work will more than likely go to Ingram. Let’s not forget the Saints also have RBs Tavaris Cadet and Khiry Robinson to utilize as well.
Pierre Thomas is a valuable piece to the Saints offense, and will be missed, but I still have faith that the RB corp can be and will be affective…
