After an atrocious performance against the St. Louis Rams this past Sunday, the Saints are making some serious personnel changes. The most notable is the cutting of K Garrett Hartley.
Hartley has struggled all year long and his lack of production on Sunday was the final straw. Saints Head Coach Sean Payton said Sunday that Hartley along with the benching of LT Charles Brown, who was absolutely dominated by Rams DE Robert Quinn, was for lack of production and the fact that he had simply “seen enough” of it.
This should be a ‘wake up call’ to everyone on the team. It doesn’t matter how much tenure you have on the team, if you’re lacking then you’re leaving. The Saints blew a golden opportunity to lock up the NFC South and the #2 seed with a win last Sunday, and now they have to try to do it against a much more difficult Carolina Panthers team.
