It’s Week 15 and the playoff scenario is still as murky as ever. Teams are still fighting to get that last Wild Card spot, while the Saints are just trying to lock up the NFC South and maybe secure the #2 or even (with a lot of help) the #1 seed in the NFC. Today the Saints are in a late afternoon game against the always pesky St. Louis Rams.
Here’s why the Rams concern me. It’s not because of their stout defense and consistent ability to rush the QB, or their secondary, it’s their offense. Rookie RB Zac Stacy has been running the ball as well as anybody in the NFL the last few weeks, couple that with the game managing abilities of QB Kellen Clemens, and the emergence of rookie WR Tavon Austin, and it already feels like the Saints are walking into a trap game.
When you add those factors to that aforementioned stout defense with their great pass rushing abilities and the fact that the Saints are on the road, as well as the fact they have to go to Carolina next week to play a game that’s just as important as last week’s? This could be a slip up for the Saints.
Besides, the Rams ALWAYS play the Saints tough, maybe it’s still some bad blood there from the old NFC West days. Regardless, I don’t see this one being a win by a wide margin. I predict Saints pull it out 28-24.
