Well I certainly did not see that coming. In a surprising turn of events today all players initially suspended for the bounty case against Gregg Williams won their appeal and will be eligible to play immediately. This is big for the Saints who will get DE Will Smith and LB Jonathan Vilma back to bolster their thin defense. Smith should play a big role this Sunday as New Orleans top pass rusher. Vilma’s role isn’t quite as clear. He has been rehabbing from a knee injury and until today didn’t think he would be playing football this year. He has been preparing to get in football shape, but it is not known exactly where he is physically at this point. Big news here with just two days until the Saints face off with Washington. All coach and general manager suspensions stay in tact.
