The Saints played very well on Sunday, and earned a 23-10 win against the Jaguars on the road. Drew Brees was very solid again, despite throwing 2 picks. He was 31-44 for 351 yards and a score. His big weapon was once again TE Jimmy Graham, who caught 10 balls for 132 and a TD. The young TE has 367 yards so far this year, and is turning into a player. Scat back Darren Sproles also had a good day, rushing for 75 yards on 7 carries. He also had 5 catches for 56 yards. The Saints offense was good not great, but the Jags are bad, not decent.
The Saints held rookie QB Blaine Gabbert to a 51.3 rating, and forced him to try and come from behind throwing the ball. They sacked the rookie 3 times, and made him uncomfortable all day. New Orleans stacked the box against RB Maurice Jones-Drew and he could still run for 84 yards on 11 carries. Against a better team, the run D has to be more stout. K John Kasay had a good day with 3 FG’s, but he also missed 2. The Saints are playing well, but they also seem to be missing something. This team could become special if the defense makes take aways much more prevalent. Next week New Orleans is matched up with Carolina, on the road. Check back for a game preview of the divisional action.
