Hello Saints fans, and welcome to the New Orleans Saints 360 Blog. My name is Chris Caruso and I will be blogging about everything Saints related for this 2011-2012 NFL season. Well here we are on the eve of Opening Night and the Saints have a big game ahead of them. They will be pitted in a matchup against the defending Super Bowl Champs, the Green Bay Packers. This of course is a tough game to open the season, however if the Saints play up to their abilities I forsee an excellant football game.
The Saints are coming off a disappointing playoff loss last year to the 7-9 Seahawks, and are looking to make a big statement tonite against the Pack. I think they have a good shot at pulling the upset if they 1) Stick to the run. 2) Play agressive defense, with complex blitz packages. 3) Win the turnover battle. If the Saints can use their 1st round pick Mark Ingram to punish the Packers front 7, Drew Brees will throw the ball all over the yard. Look for a lower scoring affair, because at this point in the year defense is usually ahead of offense.
